Let's say you already started an activity such as Soccer for your Physical Component, but you would like to change that to an at-home physical activity. It's easy!
Here are the steps (the same steps apply for physical, skills and volunteer component):
STEP 1:
Push Overview and then
+ Add Additional Activity
STEP 2 (above):
The image above will come up. Make sure you have emailed me before you have changed/added anything.
STEP 3 (below):
Add the new activity as per normal.
Regardless of a lockdown, there are many at-home-activities that can be done as your physical, skills or volunteer component for DofE. Such activities are especially awesome during a lockdown to help keep your mind and/or body active!
I recommend any student that does not have AT LEAST ONE at-home-activity to consider picking one up during a lockdown.
It will help you progress with at least one of your DofE components.
Here are just a few examples:
Running (in your local area)
At home Yoga or Pilates
Cycling (in your local area)
Cardio Workout/Drills (would need to provide a regime to Ms Marcella Gallace)
Online gym membership
Cooking at home
Textiles at home
Knitting and/or crochet
Drawing
Photography (includes iPhones!)
Reading
Gardening (at home)
Meditation (can be done through the free app - Insight Timer)
Learn an instrument at home
Music production (building songs in a program like Apple Garage etc)
Learn a language at home (i.e through Rosetta Stone and provide screenshots for proof. Other language programs here)
Learn Graphic Design (through programs such as photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator etc)
Zoom Calls with Elderly (includes group trivia sessions) - email me if interested & check the roaster time slots here.
Knit blankets, beanies, scarf etc for the elderly.
Become a PenPal with the elderly.
There are many website admin activities and other at-home- activities that can be volunteered to organisations – please see the list here.
Help create a Schols Recycling/Sustainability Committee (email me if interested) Here is an example of what you would do
Remember that an activity would need an appropriate assessor - I can help you figure out who this is, so email me if you are thinking of doing anything.
No checklist is required for at-home-activities, only an Assessor Code of Conduct form (however, this has been completed for quite a few activities under the Skills & Volunteer section – so email me to see).
EMAIL ME any ideas and I will help you find an assessor.
At home activities do require more proof than other activities - here are some examples of student logs.
Examples must include one of the following:
Photo evidence
Sport app screenshot (for physical activities)
Screenshots of any digital activities (i.e. music production, graphic design, zoom chat call etc)
